Diver 4★ (Dive Leader) — ADIP

A Diver 4★ is qualified to:

  • Plan, organise and lead recreational dives in open water environments for certified divers
  • Dive independently to a maximum depth of 40 meters
  • Plan and execute appropriate emergency procedures related to the environment and diving activities
  • Assist an instructor during training sessions in both confined and open water environments
  • Lead a re-activation dive for certified divers
  • Enroll in the ADIP Assistant Instructor or 1★ Instructor courses

An ADIP 4★ diver is not authorized to assess or teach new skills or knowledge to students.

Participation Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Provide a medical certificate confirming the absence of any contraindications to diving (issued within the past year), or complete the official ADIP medical questionnaire
  • Hold the ADIP Diver 3★ certification or an officially recognized equivalent
  • Hold the ADIP DiveMedic+O2 certification or an officially recognized equivalent issued within the last 24 months
  • Be certified Deep Diver P40-ADIP or equivalent
  • Have logged at least 50 dives and 30 hours of diving in varied conditions, including at least 30 dives completed after obtaining the ADIP Diver 1★ certification or equivalent
  • Complete and sign the registration file generated on the ADIP website upon enrolment in the course

Certification Requirements

  • Theoretical sessions covering: review and in-depth study of the Diver 1★, 2★ and 3★ curricula with prior knowledge assessment; diving equipment; physical principles governing diving; physiology; dive tables and dive computers; knowledge of the underwater world and its species; dive planning and organization; underwater navigation; diving legislation and ADIP standards; multiple-choice examination
  • 15 to 20 dives, with a minimum of 70 logged dives by the end of the training program
